This is a traditional set consisting of a firesteel made from w1 hand forged and hardened in a coal fire, A suitable hard stone (usually quartz or flint depending on what is available) and a deerskin pouch with a deer skin drawstring.
Striking the steel against the stone will create a spark that can be captured in a piece of char cloth or tinder fungus. (I will include a little something to get you started)
A great backup firestarting technique every outdoor explorer should have in their skill set. This small version fits over two or three fingers depending on your hand size.
